Hayley and Phil took on this foreclosure project to become their primary residence in 2017.
There was not much this house didn’t need, and the two completed this project themselves besides the help from a few friends with framing, electrical, and plumbing.
Completely gutting the house, Hayley changed the floor plan to create an open concept kitchen and living space. The faux barn doors became the new French door entrance, creating an inviting space with lots of light. The stairs and laundry room in the middle of the house were relocated and a half bath/laundry room was added just off the kitchen. The master received a new bed and bath layout to create more space and better function. They raised the loft’s 6′ ceilings to a true vault to allow the addition of two new bedrooms and bath upstairs.
There are timeless details added to this house that give it its cottage charm: solid oak floors, distressed wood beams, shiplap or board and batten added to every wall of the home, to name a few.
There are still small projects to be done around the cottage. For Hayley and Phil, it would be out of character if they didn’t have a project (or three) on the brain. Next is turning the nook off the kitchen into a lounge where the two can share their loves of wine and music. Be looking out!
